Moniaive is situated in an area of great natural beauty in the heart of Nithsdale, Dumfries & Galloway. The village is now linked to the Southern Upland Way www.southernuplandway.gov.uk as a result of the installation of Andy Goldsworthy’s Striding Arches and the development of Cairnhead Forest as a community resource

OTHER PLACES TO VISIT
Glencairn churchyard and Renwick Monument, Ayr Street, Moniaive
The parish of Glencairn has a strong Covenanting history. Stones in the churchyard near the thirteenth-century ruined church commemorate the deaths of Covenanters shot in the parish. A monument to the Rev. James Renwick who was born in Moniaive and was the last martyr to be executed in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket, stands on the outskirts of the village.
