Mid summer music in Glencairn
On saturday 20 june 2009, a local community project took place at throughout Glencairn.
The day event started with musicians, invited guests and participants gathering at the Byre at Cairnhead. The event included the chance to try your hand at charcoal drawing, environmental art, arch construction and den building. There was the chance to view Bail Hill Arch through a telescope, explore the surroundings on a short guided walk and discover the hidden musicians in the wood.
The programme
1pm and 2pm – Performances of new music by Wendy Stuart, inspired by the landscape and Striding Arches, with Gary West and Christine Hanson. Songs from Cairn Chorus.
2.30pm – All gather, and collect something to carry or play in our carnival procession led by our beautiful Sun Queen, Liz Cole and fantastic Thunder King, Stuart Hall, down the glen.
3.30pm – arrive at Bail Wood for a performance reflecting the river, its life and water cycle. Explore the wood and discover what is in the quarry...Enjoy your picnic and/or sample the barbeque delights on sale.
4.30pm onwards – buses ferry back to Moniaive.
